Cliff Yeargin has spent a lifetime as a ‘Storyteller’, traveling the U.S. as an EMMY Award Winning, Writer/Producer/Photographer and Editor in Broadcast journalism.He began his career in the mountains of Western North Carolina where he worked with two UGA College buddies who became legends in Broadcasting. David Steele, who is the only non-player ever inducted into the Orlando Magic Hall of Fame as the team’s announcer and Stan Pamfilis, a legendary sportscaster at WLOS-TV in Asheville NC and a member of Western North Carolina’s Sports Hall of Fame. Yeargin has been to the Baseball Hall of Fame many times as a journalist, but nobody suggested he be inducted. BUT he did shoot some College Basketball Hall of Fame Video…The ONLY video of the first 3-Point goal in the history of NCAA College Basketball. This is NOT fiction…you can look it up!

His travels as a broadcaster have taken him to dozens of Major League ballparks, World Series, Super Bowls, Final Fours, NASCAR, National Championships, The Olympics and maybe three thousand or more High School and College Football games.

 

Even though he is an EMMY & Peabody Award Winner, his major accomplishment, the ability to convince his bosses for many, many years that staying at a Baseball Spring Training camp for two months involved actual hard work. He also possessed a great skill at highly padding expense accounts from his travels.

 

Later, he spent fifteen years with CNN Atlanta, the bulk of it on the Overnight Shift, which is a direct consequence of spending way too much time studying baseball and not going to class. Overlooking that flaw, the University of Georgia still gave him a diploma, mainly to urge him to leave college and get a job.

 

He has spent a full career without EVER having to work a REAL job, his proudest accomplishment.

 

He grew up in rural Georgia on a Cattle Farm, which taught him life’s most valuable lesson…Never poke a mean bull in the butt with a big stick.
